Intense Heatwave Set to Grip Ukraine Starting June 27

According to Novyny.live: Ukraine is bracing for a severe heatwave, with temperatures expected to climb as high as +35°C beginning June 27. This extreme weather is driven by an anticyclone carrying hot air from Europe, according to meteorologist Natalia Ptukha. Western regions will be the first to feel the impact, with scorching conditions sweeping in over the weekend.

Forecasts indicate that temperatures across Ukraine could reach or exceed +35°C. In southern areas, as well as in Zakarpattia and the Carpathian region, thermometers may hit 32°C. Daytime highs will range from +24°C to +29°C, while nighttime lows will settle between +12°C and +18°C. Ptukha noted that the upcoming week will feel noticeably hotter than the current one.

European Heatwave Context

Across Europe, the heatwave has already proven deadly. France and Spain have recorded temperatures of up to +43°C, while the UK and Germany have issued red-level danger warnings. At least 18 people have died in France due to heat-related causes. Ptukha explained that these conditions stem from a cloudless, windless pattern and an anticyclone pulling hot air from as far as the African continent.

As a result, Ukrainians should prepare for significant weather shifts marked by rising temperatures and take steps to protect their health during the heatwave.

The intense heat expected in Ukraine is part of a broader trend of rising temperatures observed across Europe. High temperatures can have a major impact on public health, as well as on agriculture and infrastructure.

In the context of global warming, such anomalies are becoming more frequent, requiring both the state and society to adapt to new climatic conditions and implement effective responses to extreme weather events.
