Shifting Tactics on the Kostiantynivka Front: Enemies Now Attack in Pairs or Alone.
Current Situation on the Kostiantynivka Axis
According to Espreso.tv: On the Kostiantynivka front, Russian forces have adopted a new approach by deploying small assault teams of just one or two soldiers. Colonel Oleksandr Moroz, deputy commander of the 44th Separate Mechanized Brigade, reported that the city of Kostiantynivka is being systematically destroyed by occupiers employing relatively novel combat methods. This tactical shift makes it harder for Ukrainian troops to detect and neutralize these small, agile units, as noted by the colonel.
According to Colonel Moroz, over 200 combat engagements were recorded on June 23 alone, highlighting the intense fighting and high operational tempo in the region. He emphasized that
“on the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy is already using small-group tactics”, which complicates the situation for Ukrainian forces due to the difficulty of spotting and countering such dispersed teams.
Logistics and Emerging Threats
Colonel Moroz also pointed out that logistics remain a major challenge under current conditions, but Ukrainian troops continue to manage these difficulties effectively. He stated:
“Logistics is a very complex task right now, but we are handling it”. This reflects the ongoing efforts of Ukrainian forces to sustain their operations amid increased enemy pressure.
The use of guided aerial bombs (KABs) by Russian occupiers is causing severe destruction in Kostiantynivka. Colonel Moroz noted that 'by using KABs, the occupiers are wiping Kostiantynivka off the map.' This underscores the grave threat to both the local population and the city’s infrastructure. The situation remains critical, and Ukrainian troops continue to work on holding their positions and defending the territory.
The developments on the Kostiantynivka front signal an escalation in the conflict and introduce new challenges for Ukrainian defenders. The enemy’s reliance on small-unit tactics and guided bombs complicates efforts to protect both the land and its people. At the same time, the resilience shown by Ukrainian forces in maintaining logistics and defensive lines demonstrates their determination to confront the evolving realities of modern warfare.
