Ukrposhta Eliminates Rural Surcharge and Raises Courier Fees: New Rates Effective July 1.
Ukrposhta Rate Changes Starting July 1
According to Novyny.live: Starting July 1, Ukrposhta is overhauling its delivery pricing, with distinct impacts on both urban and rural customers. A key change is the removal of the 45-hryvnia surcharge previously applied to deliveries via mobile post offices in villages. This move is designed to level the playing field, giving residents of rural areas access to the same pricing as their city counterparts.
As Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smilianskyi stated: 'We are doing everything to ensure our customers in villages have the same opportunities and services as city residents.'
However, while the mobile branch surcharge is being scrapped, the cost of courier delivery will increase by 5 hryvnias, bringing the new price to 50 hryvnias. These adjustments come against a broader backdrop of shifting logistics costs, including a new 3-euro fee on commercial parcels introduced across the European Union on July 1.
How the Changes Affect Consumers
These revised tariffs are likely to significantly influence how consumers choose their delivery method, while also increasing the financial burden on those who rely on courier services. It’s important to note that these updates are part of the company’s broader strategy to enhance customer service across Ukraine.
The higher courier fee may push customers to reconsider their delivery preferences, especially as demand for online services continues to grow amid a rapidly changing market. This suggests Ukrposhta is working to align with European practices, a shift that could ultimately affect its competitive standing in the logistics sector.
