Polish Customs Blockade Forces Mass Return of Ukrposhta Trucks.
Customs Clearance Crisis Hits Ukrposhta Deliveries
According to Novyny.live: A growing number of Ukrposhta trucks are being forced to turn back from Poland as Polish customs authorities continue to block their clearance, creating serious logistical hurdles for the Ukrainian postal service. The situation, which has persisted for nearly two months, is disrupting delivery schedules and adding strain to cross-border operations. Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smilyansky confirmed that the ongoing customs issues are significantly complicating the company’s workflow.
These problems arise after the vehicles cross the Ukraine-Poland border. According to Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine,
“on Ukrainian territory, both border and customs controls are successfully completed by Ukrposhta’s transport vehicles.”However, on the Polish side, the situation remains difficult, causing major delays and affecting delivery timelines.
Steps Toward a Resolution
To resolve the deadlock, official clarifications from Polish authorities are urgently needed, as Demchenko also emphasized. In an effort to streamline customs procedures, the State Customs Service of Ukraine will launch a new phase of a pilot project starting June 8, aimed at improving the inspection of customs declarations for used vehicle imports. While this could help speed up processing, the current bottleneck at the Polish border remains a critical issue for Ukrposhta’s continued operations.
The ongoing customs standoff at the Polish border is having a severe impact on Ukrposhta’s logistics and cargo delivery, potentially leading to delays in meeting customer commitments. Resolving this issue is a top priority not only for Ukrposhta but also for strengthening transport and logistics cooperation between Ukraine and Poland. The actions of Polish customs authorities in the coming weeks will be key to determining the future efficiency of cross-border freight movement between the two countries.
