Updated Bedding Usage Regulations

According to Novyny.live: Ukraine's national railway operator, Ukrzaliznytsia, has introduced revised rules for bedding on its trains. Under the new policy, passengers must now return their used bedding themselves. Conductors are required to collect the bedding from passengers 30 minutes before the train's arrival, a change designed to streamline the final preparation process and ensure smoother arrivals.

Starting March 1, 2026, the cost of a bedding set in second-class (platskart) and compartment (kupe) cars will be set at 95 hryvnias. In higher-class cars, such as SV (sleeping cars) and RIC (international cars), the price will be higher at 180 hryvnias. This new pricing structure applies to all travelers using these car types.

Enhanced Amenities for Travelers

In addition, passengers can now access drinking water or hot water, as well as basic medications from the onboard first-aid kit, at no extra charge. They are also free to use the microwave and refrigerator located in the conductor's compartment. These complimentary services are intended to add greater convenience during journeys.

The policy changes come amid heightened security measures across Ukrzaliznytsia due to ongoing Russian attacks. Furthermore, the company has shortened the ticket sale window for specific routes, a move aimed at simplifying travel planning for passengers.

The overhaul of bedding rules and the adjusted pricing for linen sets reflect Ukrzaliznytsia's commitment to improving passenger service while adapting to new safety and operational realities. These measures are designed to boost travel comfort in the face of the challenges currently confronting Ukraine's railway system.
