Tesco limits online sales of chocolate sets: what's the reason.
According to The Sun: The largest supermarket in the UK, Tesco, has limited the number of packs of Quality Street and Celebrations chocolate candies after reducing their prices.
Last week, Tesco lowered the price of 600-gram packs of Quality Street to £2.95 instead of £7 with a club card — this is a significant saving ahead of Christmas.
GettyThe price of 550-gram Celebrations has also been reduced to £4.50. The offer for 600 g Quality Street became so popular among shoppers that the product sold out in the online store, while stocks are still available in physical stores.
However, attentive shoppers noticed that Tesco.com has imposed limits on popular Christmas chocolates, including Quality Street, Roses, Heroes, and Celebrations. Customers can only order a maximum of six packs when shopping online.
There are no overall restrictions on individual items in the stores, although some branches may impose limits on certain products to ensure that all shoppers have the opportunity to purchase them.
Changes in packaging
This year, the packaging of Quality Street has been reduced from 600 g to 550 g. It has also been reported that one of the major supermarkets has brought back its tin packaging of Christmas candies, which, according to shoppers, is better than Quality Street.
Supermarkets are constantly competing for the lowest price on Christmas sweets, but the lowest price we have seen is £2.95, so it is worth taking the opportunity if you see it.
Quality Street packs contain classic favorites such as The Purple One, The Green Triangle, Strawberry Delight, Toffee Finger, Orange Creme, and Coconut Éclair, which become staples in many families at Christmas.
Cadbury Roses, named after Dorothy Cadbury's favorite flowers, include flavor options such as Hazel Whirl, Golden Barrel, Strawberry Dream, Caramel, Country Fudge, Signature Truffle, Tangy Orange Creme, and Cadbury Dairy Milk Chunk.
As stated in the product description:
“These candies are made in a factory in Bourneville in the garden.”
Cadbury’s Heroes include iconic candies from the popular brand, such as Dairy Milk, Twirl, Wispa, Dinky Decker, Crunchie, Fudge, and Creme Egg Twisted.
These chocolate candies are not only a great gift but also perfect for sharing while watching Christmas movies or for gatherings with guests.
Cadbury’s Celebrations consist of a luxurious set of favorite chocolates in mini format and chocolate biscuits, such as Mars, Twix, Snickers, Bounty, Galaxy, Maltesers, and Milky Way.
In light of the reduced packaging and purchase limits, Tesco is trying to cope with demand during the holiday season. Such changes may reflect not only a trend towards more aggressive promotions but also a concern for meeting the needs of all shoppers. Just ahead of Christmas, it is a challenge for supermarkets to find a balance between savings for consumers and ensuring product availability in stores.
