Football for Children Under 7: Matches Without Referee and Goalkeeper.
Changes in Youth Football
According to The Sun: In the new season, children will play football matches without a referee. According to the new rules, teams under seven years old will compete in a three-a-side format.
Instead of a referee, there will be a so-called 'facilitator' on the field who will supervise the children's safety. However, parents have opposed this innovation, which also involves the absence of goalkeepers.
The changes are being implemented under the auspices of the English Football Community, which is responsible for the development of youth football. One of the questions on their website states:
“How will children learn the rules of the game 3 on 3 without a referee?”The response notes:
“There must be a facilitator for each match. Over time, they will be able to manage their games independently.”
One parent commented:
“It looks like the matches will turn into complete anarchy.”The main goal of the changes is to give children more time to play.
Football officials argue:
“Research has shown that this significantly develops young players and their skills.”However, Jordan Davis from Macclesfield, Cheshire, believes:
“Improving infrastructure for amateurs should be a priority.”
Norwich United coach Chris Stones also expressed his views on this matter:
“3 on 3 for players under 7 years old is absolute madness.”Getty
Changes in youth football have sparked much discussion among parents and coaches. The new rules, aimed at simplifying the game and giving children more freedom, have raised concerns about match control and the ability to teach children the fundamentals of the rules. At the same time, club representatives believe that this will help young players develop their skills faster and gain valuable playing experience.
