Ex-Chelsea star Ziyech rejected by Romanian club: reason for rejection.
Bitter Turn in Hakim Ziyech's Career
According to The Sun: Former Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech has hit rock bottom in his career: Romanian club CFR Cluj decided not to sign a contract with him.
Chelsea paid Ajax 40 million pounds for this winger in 2020, and he became an important part of the team that won the Champions League in 2021.
GettyZiyech scored a goal in the UEFA Super Cup final that same year and contributed to the club's victory at the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup.
In 2023, the Moroccan left Chelsea for Galatasaray, and at the end of the season moved to Qatari club Al-Duhail.
The 32-year-old player was in active negotiations with Cluj, who are currently in 12th place in the Romanian Liga 1, hoping to become their highest-paid player.
However, club owner Ioan Varta reported that they had declined to sign a contract due to the player's health issues.
“Ziyech did not pass. He has a problem with his left knee, which I was informed about. He is a very nice guy, but I wouldn't want to risk that much money on a player who may have medical problems.”
Varta also noted that he observed Ziyech's play during matches for Galatasaray and noticed that he played 'with some fear.'
“We decided to stop negotiations. I feel sorry, as he is a special player, but I don’t want to take risks.”
“He wanted 2.5 million euros a year, and I wouldn't want to pay that kind of money to a player who we might not be able to utilize.”
“I wish him health and the opportunity to play in another team. We will be looking for another healthy player who can definitely help us.”
CFR Cluj is trying to strengthen their squad and recently signed former West Ham defender Kurt Zouma and former Leicester record signing Islam Slimani.

Overall, the situation with Hakim Ziyech highlights the instability of an athlete's career, where success can quickly turn into failure. He still has time to return to playing at a high level, but for that, he needs to overcome existing health issues and find a club that believes in his potential.
The CFR Cluj club continues to improve its team, seeking players who can strengthen their progress in the Romanian Liga 1 and European competitions.
