Cabinet Reshuffle in Ukraine

According to 5 канал — Політика: Ukraine’s government has undergone a leadership shake-up, naming interim heads for two key ministries. Yevhenii Khmara has been appointed acting Minister of Defense, while Andrii Sybiha takes over as acting Minister of Foreign Affairs. These appointments were made in coordination with the president.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has outlined winter preparedness as a top priority for the new team. He specifically tasked Khmara with leading the Defense Ministry, underscoring the critical nature of the role given the country’s ongoing security challenges.

Reactions to the Appointments

Commenting on the changes, Serhii Koretskyi stated:

“In coordination with the president, the government has appointed Yevhenii Khmara as acting Minister of Defense and Andrii Sybiha as acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.”

He also noted that the government is restructuring its ministries in line with parliamentary decisions.

These cabinet changes reflect Ukraine’s response to current national challenges and signal a commitment to effective governance in critical areas like defense and foreign policy.

The appointment of new acting ministers comes amid a difficult security environment in Ukraine, particularly as the country prepares for winter—a period that is especially consequential during wartime. This move highlights the authorities’ drive to respond swiftly to modern threats and national needs, as well as the importance of maintaining stable leadership in key government agencies.
