The document defines the status, purpose, and tasks of the Pool, the organization of management, as well as the rules for insurance, co-insurance, and reinsurance in case of possible nuclear damages. This is an important step that meets the requirements of legislation and international obligations in the field of nuclear safety.
“The approval of the Nuclear Insurance Pool regulation is an important step towards strengthening the financial mechanisms of nuclear safety. This is not only compliance with legal requirements but also a clear signal to our international partners: Ukraine takes security issues seriously, protecting people and the environment in the use of nuclear energy,” said Ukraine's Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk.
The Minister emphasized that regulating the activities of the Pool will contribute to the development of the insurance market in nuclear energy and facilitate interaction between state and private structures.
“The Pool mechanism allows consolidating the financial resources of insurers and providing real coverage for possible damages. This is an important element of the country's energy security,” the Minister added.
The Regulation on the Nuclear Insurance Pool was approved to ensure effective financial protection in the event of nuclear incidents, as well as to comply with legal requirements and international standards in the field of nuclear safety.
The creation of the Nuclear Insurance Pool will ensure an adequate level of protection and increase the reliability of the insurance system in Ukraine. The introduction of these mechanisms will serve not only territorial security but also the strengthening of trust among partners, which is important in the face of modern challenges in the energy sector.
