Government bans power cuts in frontline communities: details of the decision

According to inkorr.com: Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko held a government meeting where they discussed the preparation of local communities near the front line for the winter season. The main focus was on the stability of the energy sector.

According to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, among the initiatives that the government will consider is the introduction of a ban on water and electricity disconnections in frontline communities for unpaid bills. The possibility of compensating for differences in heating tariffs is also being considered to ensure the normal operation of heat utility services during the heating season.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the state must guarantee uninterrupted electricity and gas supply in challenging conditions. Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba noted that the stability of communities during the conflict requires appropriate measures to ensure residents have heating and lighting, regardless of the situation.

Built cogeneration installations, ready to operate about 700 MW of capacity

Together with local communities, a network of distributed generation is actively developing, especially in regions near the front line. Over 129,000 residential buildings have been prepared, and work on the preparation of social infrastructure is nearing completion, indicating over 90% readiness in these areas.

At government meetings, issues of preparing frontline communities for winter were also discussed, particularly the stability of energy supply. The government intends to implement a number of measures to guarantee uninterrupted electricity and gas supply in conflict conditions. The development of the distributed generation network in regions close to the front continues to ensure that the population has heating and lighting.

In the situation created by the conflict, it is very important for government agencies to respond quickly to the needs of local communities. The preparation of energy infrastructure and housing in frontline areas is not only useful for supporting the population during warm seasons but also for stabilizing the situation in regions most affected by hostilities.
