Ukrzaliznytsia blocks thousands of accounts: who tried to speculate on tickets.
Recently, there has been a shortage of seats on Ukrzaliznytsia trains that operate on some popular routes. One of the reasons is mentioned as 'resellers' trying to speculate on tickets. However, the carrier is looking for ways to overcome this problem.
The company's press service reported that Ukrzaliznytsia has started blocking the accounts of some 'passengers'.
Why there are not enough train tickets for everyone
Financial expert Viktor Halchynskyi explained on the 'Vechir.LIVE' channel that the main problem for Ukrzaliznytsia is the fight against ticket resellers. He also noted that part of the seats on the trains is already reserved for various special population groups and government structures.
The company justifies the shortage of freight-passenger cars by wear and tear and damage from enemy attacks, as well as due to the expiration of train operation periods.
Why Ukrzaliznytsia can block the accounts of 'passengers'
In March, Ukrzaliznytsia blocked over 3,800 accounts due to suspicious activity. Another 271 users also received blocking. According to the company, these individuals actively bought tickets or tried to cheat the system.
In addition, other schemes have emerged, such as buying tickets under different names for further resale, or reserving seats without payment for later viewing.
For example, one user reserved seats 134 times for 15 minutes but never paid for them.
In this regard, Ukrzaliznytsia has tightened passenger identification procedures, considering not only the number of tickets and different surnames but also user behavior in the system that may indicate fraud. Additional security measures, such as more complex CAPTCHAs, have been introduced to complicate the work of automated programs.
The service of railway transport is becoming increasingly popular in Ukraine, but with it come the problems related to reselling and fraud in the ticket market. Ukrzaliznytsia is actively implementing security and identification measures to ensure fair ticket availability for all passengers.Read also
