The High Representative of the EU welcomed the joint statement of Ukraine and the USA
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas, welcomed the joint statement of Ukraine and the USA following their meeting in Saudi Arabia. The statement includes proposals for a ceasefire agreement, humanitarian efforts, and the resumption of intelligence sharing and security assistance from the USA.
Kallas stated that the European Union is ready to support Ukraine along with the USA and other partners in the next steps. The EU's goal is to support Ukraine in achieving a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace based on the principles of the UN and international law. The proposal for a ceasefire could be an important step in this direction if Russia accepts it. Russia must demonstrate its readiness to achieve peace.
Additionally, Kallas responded to the efforts of Saudi Arabia, which hosted these discussions.
