Russia has halted funding for the AIDS CENTER: thousands of patients left without medication.
In the Russian Federation, funding for the organization for HIV-positive individuals and AIDS patients 'AIDS CENTER' has been halted. This has led to the cessation of HIV testing and antiretroviral therapy.
Russian media reported: 'The state has stopped supporting HIV-positive individuals.'
The economic crisis in the Russian Federation jeopardizes the treatment of individuals with HIV infection and AIDS patients.
The organization 'AIDS CENTER' now exists solely on donations, as it has lost full financial support from the state.
Information on antiretroviral therapy
According to the foundation, in 2025 'AIDS CENTER' did not receive a grant from the Presidential Grants Fund, the grant from the Moscow Department of Labor and Social Protection has been canceled, and the grant from T-Bank has been denied.
Thus, HIV testing, antiretroviral therapy, and educational programs are under threat. Polina Melnikova from the foundation noted that this could lead to serious problems for people and the HIV prevention system in Russia.
Earlier, Russia canceled the anonymity of HIV-infected individuals and there are issues with the procurement of medications for the treatment of HIV infection.
As a result of the cessation of funding for the organization for HIV-positive individuals in Russia, a significant threat to the treatment and prevention of HIV infection in the country arises. This could significantly affect public health and threaten the lives of those who require antiretroviral therapy. Immediate measures are necessary to save the situation and ensure the necessary treatment and support for HIV-positive individuals in Russia.
