The 'Sleeping Prince' has died in Saudi Arabia - spent 20 years in a coma.
The royal court of Saudi Arabia has announced the death of the 'Sleeping Prince', who spent more than 20 years in a coma after a severe injury. Upon his passing, Prince Al-Walid bin Khalid bin Talal was 35 years old. This was reported by the BBC.
The 'Sleeping Prince' has died
The father of the deceased prince, Khalid bin Talal, published a statement on the social media platform X, stating:
'O, tranquil soul, return to your Lord, content and accepted [by Him], enter among My servants and into My Paradise... With hearts filled with faith in God's will and destiny, with great sorrow and grief we mourn our dear son, Prince Al-Walid bin Khalid bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. May Allah have mercy on him. Today he has passed into God's mercy.'
The prince was born in 1990 and fell into a coma after an accident in 2005 while he was a student at a military college and suffered a severe brain injury.
In 2019, the family reported some minor improvements in the prince's condition, but full recovery did not occur.
The story of the 'Sleeping Prince' became a symbol of struggle and faith, thanks to the determination of his family in seeking treatment. This event has resonated widely in the Arab world and will be remembered by many.
