In Ukraine, a project of the Demographic Development Strategy until 2040 has been developed.
The Ministry of Social Policy, together with experts, has developed the Demographic Development Strategy of Ukraine until 2040. The project envisages holding events to ensure policy coherence and interaction between government bodies, public organizations, and businesses. Also planned is a communication campaign to foster changes in society that will contribute to the country's demographic development.
"The war has posed extremely difficult demographic challenges for Ukraine, for the solution of which it is important to have reliable partners. We are grateful to UNFPA and the Government of the United Kingdom for continuing cooperation and are convinced that the implementation of the project will break negative trends and unite society around building a country in which people want to live, to which they want to return, where they want to have children, lead a healthy active life, work, and develop together," said Ukraine's Minister of Social Policy, Oksana Zholnovych.
The goal of the Strategy is to increase birth rates, overcome premature mortality, and ensure population migration growth. It also envisages creating comfortable living conditions in Ukraine, in particular, affordable housing, quality public infrastructure, a safe environment, an inclusive labor market, and social cohesion of the population.
The project of the Strategy includes a general description of problems and goals, as well as an Action Plan for their implementation. Currently, the project is at the final stage of approval by the Government of Ukraine.
