In Ukraine, the curriculum for students in grades 5-9 has been changed: what awaits schoolchildren.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has approved significant changes in the Typical Educational Program for students in grades 5-9.
The press service of the Ministry of Education reported that the distribution of the educational load between subjects is changing, which will make education more flexible and allow the integration between disciplines.
In the updated version of the educational program, the approach to the distribution of educational Time has changed. Now the minimum number of hours is taken as a basis, not the recommended one as it was before. This gives schools more freedom in forming educational plans, allowing them to better consider the characteristics and needs of students.
An important innovation was the appearance of a reserve of hours - the difference between the minimum and maximum allowable number of educational hours. Schools can use this reserve to strengthen various educational directions. This opens up wide opportunities for the introduction of an interdisciplinary approach, the implementation of project activities, and other modern educational methods.
The reserves of hours have also changed:
- 5th grade - 7.5 hours per week (6.5 hours for classes of national minorities and indigenous peoples)
- 6th grade - 9.5 hours (8.5 hours for classes of national minorities and indigenous peoples)
- 7th grade - 6.5 hours (5.5 hours for classes of national minorities and indigenous peoples)
- 8th grade - 6.5 hours for all classes
- 9th grade - 6.5 hours for all classes
In addition, students in grades 5-9 will face the following changes:
- Integrated courses. The number of hours for integrated courses of various educational fields, as well as for inter-field integrated courses, which are elective and can be introduced through the redistribution of hours, has been determined.
- Assessment and process organization. Evaluation tools have been updated in accordance with the assessment system by groups of learning outcomes. Also, requirements for organizing the educational process in classes with instruction in the language of the indigenous people and/or national minority have been added, as well as model educational programs in the Crimean Tatar language for different grades.
- Model programs. Requirements for model educational and educational programs have been determined.
It should be reminded that students will have distance learning under new rules.
