State Assistance for Pregnancy and Childbirth: Who is Entitled to Payments

According to ТСН: Unemployed women, pregnant women without insurance, as well as certain categories of military personnel, students, and women who have been laid off due to the liquidation of enterprises, may receive state assistance in case of pregnancy and childbirth.

Right to State Assistance

The following individuals are entitled to assistance in connection with pregnancy and childbirth:

  • Pregnant women (including minors) who are not insured in the system of mandatory state social insurance;

  • Women from the ranks of the Armed Forces, State Border Guard Service, Security Service of Ukraine, and other military formations;

  • Women who have been laid off due to the liquidation of the enterprise, provided that the dismissal occurred not earlier than six months before receiving assistance;

  • Women registered as unemployed at the employment center;

  • Postgraduates, doctoral students, clinical interns, students of vocational and higher education institutions;

  • Unemployed women;

  • Women registered as entrepreneurs who do not participate in the system of mandatory state social insurance.

Appointment and Amounts of Assistance

Assistance is appointed upon request, which must be submitted no later than six months after the end of the leave due to pregnancy and childbirth, and is paid for the entire leave period, which is 70 calendar days before childbirth and 56 (in case of complications or multiple births — 70) after childbirth.

Women who suffered as a result of the Chernobyl disaster, are entitled to assistance for 180 calendar days of this leave (90 before childbirth and 90 after childbirth).

Assistance is calculated cumulatively and is appointed in full, regardless of the number of leave days before childbirth.

  • Diya portal;

  • Pension Fund mobile application;

  • Through authorized persons of the executive body of the relevant territorial community;

  • Public Administrative Service Centers (CNAP);

  • Postal services.
