Successful Defense of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad: How It Influenced the EU's Decision on 90 Billion Euros.
According to ТСН: The effective defensive actions of the Ukrainian forces in Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad have become a significant argument for Ukraine's Western allies to continue their support.
Statements of the Commander
This opinion was expressed by former Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko during an interview. He noted that the recent statements of the 'coalition of the willing' regarding support for Ukraine and the allocation of 90 billion euros, adopted at the European Union summit, are important for continuing aid to our country.
'If we had surrendered Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, and there was no operation to liberate Kupiansk, then the debates might have continued to this day. There would have been no trust in Ukraine, in the Ukrainian army, in its capacity to deter the enemy. I think this also played a certain role,' Muzhenko assumed.
Financial Support for Ukraine
As reported earlier, the European Union allocated 90 billion euros to Ukraine for the next two years. These funds will be non-repayable and interest-free, and they will be used for budget and defense needs.
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Andriy Sybiga noted that the decisive role in reaching agreements was played by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Situation at the Front
In the Eastern military grouping, it was reported that the defense in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, continues, Ukrainian troops control the northern part of the city. In Myrnohrad, Ukrainian units hold defensive lines and eliminate Russian occupiers on the approaches to the city.
The current situation in Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad demonstrates the resilience of the Ukrainian military in opposing aggression. Statements from Western allies indicate continued support for Ukraine, which is a crucial factor in this struggle. Financial assistance from the EU will serve as a foundation for strengthening defense capabilities and ensuring stability in the country in the coming years.
