Virtual Reality Tour Set to Launch in the Verkhovyna Region.
Project 'Journey Through the Trails of the Hutsul Capital'
According to Espreso.tv: A new initiative in the Verkhovyna community is set to introduce an immersive virtual reality sightseeing route. Known as 'Journey Through the Trails of the Hutsul Capital,' this ambitious project is backed by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation and the 'MHP-Community' Charitable Foundation. Its core goal is to weave together natural landmarks, cultural heritage, and local stories into a unified experience, giving visitors a deeper understanding of this distinctive region.
The project is being carried out by the public organization 'Alliance for Development.' The development team includes historians, local ethnographers, and cultural heritage experts, ensuring a high-quality and meaningful final product. Yaroslav Zelenchuk, who has spent three decades gathering archives, photographs, and information about local sites, notes:
“The Verkhovyna area is full of fascinating spots that are known only to scholars, local historians, or people who remember stories from the elderly.” - Yaroslav Zelenchuk
Work on the route will continue over the coming months, with active involvement from local residents, ethnographers, cultural figures, tourism professionals, and young people. Vitaliy Perederko, one of the project’s initiators, expressed enthusiasm for its growth, stating:
“We are keen to strengthen the project and will promote the route as a key tourist attraction for the region.” - Vitaliy Perederko
Among the historical and cultural sites planned for inclusion in the route are:
- 'Zhydivskyi Kamin' (Jewish Stone)
- 'Frankova Voda' (Franko's Water)
- 'Frankiv Kamin' (Franko's Stone)
- the Roman Catholic Church
- the 'Hutsulshchyna' museum in Iltsi
Close collaboration among project partners—such as 'Hutsulyky,' the 'Hutsulshchyna' Ethno-Eco Center, and the Verkhovyna District Association of the All-Ukrainian 'Prosvita' Society named after Taras Shevchenko—will be key to the initiative’s successful implementation.
Significance of the Project
The 'Journey Through the Trails of the Hutsul Capital' project promises to be a major step forward for tourism infrastructure in the Verkhovyna community, helping to preserve cultural heritage and promote local traditions.
This initiative to create a virtual reality sightseeing route in the Verkhovyna community could become a significant draw for tourists, positively impacting the region’s economy. With support from state and charitable organizations, its implementation highlights a growing focus on cultural preservation and tourism development in Ukraine. The involvement of local residents and experts in crafting the route also underscores the importance of collaborative efforts to achieve a shared vision.
