From Kyivstar and Vodafone to lifecell: large-scale number porting had to be halted.
Ukraine temporarily suspends the mobile number porting service due to a large number of applications. The NCEC made the decision for a technical pause in the system's operation from December 20, 2024, from 08:30 to 16:15.
According to the Ukrainian State Center for Frequency Resources, on December 16, 17,012 applications for number porting were registered, which is four times higher than the average load.
From December 10 to 18, over 10,000 subscribers of 'Kyivstar' and more than 2,800 users of 'Vodafone Ukraine' transferred their numbers to the lifecell network.
The UDC reports that the system overload has led to a slowdown in the Central Database's operation and an increase in request processing time. After technical maintenance, the system will be able to process about 20,000 applications per day.
'The state is rapidly increasing the capacities of the Central Database, and we thank them for this prompt response. Because the number of subscribers wanting to switch to lifecell practically paralyzes the system,' said CEO of the DVL group of companies Mykhailo Shelemba.
