From fines to imprisonment - which currency could bring problems at the border.
Some banknotes of dollars and euros may create problems for Ukrainians at the border. Citizens face fines, cash confiscation, and even imprisonment, depending on the severity of the offense.
The website Novini.LIVE explained which denominations of foreign currency could lead to serious troubles.
Undeclared currency
When crossing the border with cash in any foreign currency, it must be declared. Ukrainians exporting more than 10,000 euros in equivalent must declare foreign currency values in writing. Violations of this rule are subject to fines.
'The recalculation of cash currency and the value of bank metals into euros is carried out at the official exchange rate of the hryvnia to the euro established by the National Bank, or at the cross rate established by the NBU on the day of crossing the border of Ukraine'
Fines and cash confiscation are imposed for failure to declare currency values at the border.
Fake dollars and euros
If counterfeit banknotes of dollars or euros are found at the border, the respective legal consequences are provided according to Ukrainian legislation.
- production for the purpose of sale;
- storage;
- purchase;
- transportation;
- sending.
In case of violation of these rules, the violator faces imprisonment. Punishment is only provided for intentional actions.
What else should Ukrainians know
Ukrainians should avoid using counterfeit banknotes of dollars and euros, as this may lead to legal problems. It is also important to consider which denominations of currency are better to purchase for different purposes.
Remember that when crossing the border with foreign currency, it is necessary to comply with the declaration requirements, avoid using counterfeit money, and monitor the denominations of banknotes to avoid troubles.Read also
