Ukraine’s Automatic Deferral Renewals: Who Gets a Draft Exemption Every Three Months.
Ukraine’s Ongoing General Mobilization
According to Novyny.live: Since February 24, 2022, Ukraine has been under a general mobilization order. For citizens eligible for a draft deferral due to health reasons, authorities have introduced an automatic renewal system. This means that every three months, the deferral will be extended without additional paperwork, in line with the Ukrainian Parliament’s decision to prolong the mobilization period.
Deferrals are granted under Article 23, Part 1, Clause 2 of the Law of Ukraine 'On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization.' It is essential for those liable for military service to stay informed about their deferral status. They can do so by checking the expanded data available in the 'Reserve+' mobile application.
Types of Deferrals and How to Track Them
Ukraine recognizes two categories of deferrals: indefinite and fixed-term. Individuals who have been granted a deferral must remain vigilant about their situation and regularly review updates in the 'Reserve+' app to ensure they fully understand their rights and obligations regarding mobilization.
According to Yuriy Ayvazyan, 'Your deferral will be automatically extended every three months.'
This automatic renewal process represents a significant support measure for individuals facing serious health issues. It provides greater stability and reduces the risks associated with having to reapply for documents repeatedly. The use of modern technology, such as the 'Reserve+' app, also helps improve awareness and oversight of the rights of those subject to military service—a critical factor given the prolonged mobilization across the country.
