War Has Stolen Childhood: How Ukraine Fights for the Future of Its Children.

The Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, Oksana Zholnovich, claims that Ukrainian children are undergoing difficult trials due to the war. She calls for joint efforts to protect the rights of Ukrainian children and to return and adapt them in a safe environment.
Official data indicates that 19 thousand Ukrainian children have been forcibly displaced, many of whom were taken to a military camp under the guise of a summer camp.
The Minister emphasizes that the conditions of war lead to loss of home, separation from family, and fear. Russia seeks to steal the future of Ukrainian children through displacement and eviction. The Ukrainian government is doing everything possible to return children to their families and provide them with a safe environment. Systemic solutions are being created, which include social services and the construction of housing for large foster families.
'For three years of war, the Russian occupying authorities have committed one of the largest war crimes - the illegal adoption and eviction of Ukrainian children, which is an attempt to erase national identity and destroy the future of Ukraine. However, despite these crimes, more than 1,200 children have been managed to return to their homeland,' said Oksana Zholnovich.
The Minister also notes that Ukraine is actively working on the reintegration process of returned children. Teams have been established to provide comprehensive assistance, including family support, psychosocial support, inclusive education, and ensuring the right to a safe childhood.
The Minister also emphasizes that adoption procedures have become simpler, leading to a record number of adoptions. Foster care is also being developed - new foster families have been established. The government has launched an online platform for future, current, and potential foster parents.
