"The war will end tomorrow": Ukrainians were shown the worth of predictions by molfares, astrologers, and other charlatans.
Since the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, society has been flooded with the most diverse predictions about the end of the war, the death of Putin, events at the front, and shelling of Ukrainian cities. Predictions are shared not only by military experts but also by astrologers, tarologists, fortune-tellers, molfares, witches, and psychics. Even "the world's only asparagus fortune-teller" has offered her predictions.
"Everything should be resolved by August. That is, during this period, Ukraine will be cleansed of enemies. Therefore, Ukraine will win in 2023," said astrologer Vlad Ross. "According to my forecasts, the fighting should end by the end of the summer [2023]," said psychic Valery Shatylovich. "Spring 2023 is the Time for Ukraine to win the war with Russia," added tarologist Lyudmila Khomutovska.
Although most predictions do not come true, the predictors increase their audience and profit from gullible listeners. In uncertain times, such forecasts ease emotional conditions and create an illusion of control. However, according to psychologists, this relief is only short-term and does not help resolve uncertainty in the long term.
Over time, people realize that predictions do not always come true, which leads to disappointment and fear. Each day, hope fades that the war will ever end. Therefore, it is important to act realistically rather than rely on predictions. It is better to provide oneself with water, food, and shelter at home than to rely on charms.
The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security urges relying on facts, not emotions. It is important to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine in various ways to bring victory closer.
