Israeli Military to Remain in Syria Indefinitely - Media.
Israel Explains Reason for Prolonged Military Presence in Syria
Israel's Defense Minister, Israel Katz, has stated that the country's troops will not leave their positions in Syria for an indefinite period. Previously, Israel viewed its actions as a temporary measure to prevent the movement of hostile forces in the area controlled by Bashar Assad's regime. However, Israel has now decided to remain in the Golan Heights and the security zone for an indefinite period to ensure the safety of its citizens. 'We will not rely on others for our defense here and anywhere,' said Katz.
So far, no party in the Syrian war has reacted to Israel's statement. However, taking advantage of this, Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa condemned Israel's actions and its motives for seizing land.
Last month, Israeli troops entered Syria, transferring their military forces through the Golan Heights and the demilitarized buffer zone. They did this because Syrian army units abandoned their positions after the fall of Assad's regime, and Israel is concerned about the presence of militants in its immediate vicinity.
The 1974 agreement between Israel and Syria has been violated, and now Israel has decided to remain in Syria to avoid new aggression from the enemy.
