The military called phrases that provoke conflict at checkpoints.
According to inkorr.com: Checks on the roads have become a routine part of everyday life for Ukrainians during the war. The military emphasizes that emotions and inappropriate behavior at checkpoints can complicate a routine inspection and turn it into a dangerous situation.
The commander of a guard company at one of the territorial recruitment centers in Poltava shared what phrases drivers should avoid.
“The worst thing is throwing words that provoke conflict”, the military noted.
Phrases that may cause problems:
“Let me through, I am in a hurry” — the inspection cannot adapt to the driver's schedule. It is better to ask calmly, without demands.
“It's none of your business what's in the trunk” — such a reaction raises suspicions. If asked, it's better to open the trunk without aggression. Remember that the inspection can only be conducted by police officers.
“I won't give documents” — refusal may lead to a more thorough inspection. The military has the right to demand military registration documents, while other inspections are conducted by the police.
“I will call influential friends” — flaunting connections usually leads to stricter inspections.
“We are not at war” — such words can be perceived by the military as an insult or provocation.
“I will just drive away and nothing will happen” — sudden movements at the checkpoint can provoke a dangerous reaction, especially in frontline areas.
The military advises drivers to have documents ready, to show them calmly and without comments, to move slowly, and to keep their hands in plain sight.
“Politeness and clarity in actions are not a weakness, but a way to avoid danger”, concluded the TC employee.
Given the difficult situation in the country, the military is trying to create safe conditions for inspections. Following simple recommendations will help drivers avoid misunderstandings with law enforcement officers and maintain calm during stressful situations on the road. Undoubtedly, politeness and understanding will ensure safety for all road participants.
