Ukraine Overhauls Military Pay: Ranges from 30,000 to 300,000 Hryvnia.
New Compensation Structure for Ukrainian Service Members
According to Novyny.live: During the broadcast of 'Evening.LIVE,' officials outlined a revamped pay system for Ukraine's military personnel, with amounts ranging from 30,000 to 300,000 hryvnia depending on duty location. Those serving in rear areas are guaranteed a minimum of 30,000 hryvnia, while troops on the front lines will receive an average of 300,000 hryvnia. The Cabinet of Ministers is expected to begin rolling out these additional payments as early as June.
Preparing a Major Reform
The program also covered preparations for a sweeping reform of the Defense Forces' service system. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that work is underway on this reform, which aims to improve military service. Currently, the army faces a funding shortfall of approximately 150 billion hryvnia, highlighting the urgent need for proper financial support.
Guests on the show included:
- Economist Oleh Ustenko
- Members of Parliament Volodymyr Kreydenko, Oleksandr Yurchenko, and Vitaliy Voytsekhivskyi
- Lawyer Mykola Melnychenko
- Director Volodymyr Omelchenko
- Deputy Denys Chystikov
It was also noted that military contracts will have durations of 10, 14, and 24 months, which could reshape the overall structure of army service.
These new payments represent a significant step in supporting service members, especially amid the ongoing conflict. Given the substantial funding gap, the additional compensation could help boost troop morale and ensure decent conditions for their duties. The reform of the Defense Forces' service system is also critical, as it aims to refine the structure and enhance the army's effectiveness in the face of modern challenges.
