Sweden is ready to provide Ukraine with Gripen fighters after a peace agreement.
Sweden is ready for military support for Ukraine
According to ТСН: Sweden plans to provide military support to Ukraine as part of security guarantees after a peace agreement is concluded.
This information was announced by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson during the summary of the Coalition of Willing meeting in Paris.
Kristersson noted that during the discussion, participants of the Coalition, representatives of Ukraine and the United States exchanged views on peace in Ukraine and further steps to ensure stability in the region. He emphasized the progress made on these issues.
The Prime Minister highlighted that Sweden is ready to contribute to security guarantees for Ukraine and all of Europe after a peace agreement is achieved. In particular, Stockholm is considering the possibility of providing Gripen fighters for aerial surveillance over Ukraine.
Additionally, Sweden is ready to deploy naval resources for demining in the Black Sea and continue training Ukrainian military officers. According to the Prime Minister, these actions could become part of international efforts to maintain peace after the fighting ends.
He also emphasized that these plans will be implemented only if a number of conditions are met, including reaching a peace agreement, defining the rules of engagement for multinational forces, and obtaining official approval for the corresponding decisions from the Swedish Parliament.
Ulf Kristersson added that Sweden intends to make its contribution to maintaining peace in Europe.
It is also worth noting that Macron, Starmer, and Zelensky signed a declaration of intent regarding the deployment of multinational forces after a ceasefire in Ukraine. Furthermore, the United States expressed its readiness to support Ukraine in the event of a new attack by Russia.
The Swedish initiative will be an important step in strengthening the security of the region, especially in the context of the ongoing armed conflict in eastern Ukraine. Coordinated actions of the international community, including the involvement of military resources and training, can significantly influence stability in Europe and promote peaceful resolution of the situation.
