Passport Owners Face Fines: New Renewal Rules
Citizens with old-style passports may face administrative sanctions for violating the deadlines for updating their documents. The State Migration Service of Ukraine reminds about important changes in the document workflow procedure.

Updating Passports

According to inkorr.com: Owners of booklet passports must update their photo upon reaching the age of 25 and 45 within one month. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in a fine of up to 51 hryvnias. Although the booklet passport has an indefinite status, it must be replaced with an ID card if the photo update deadline has been missed, as well as in the event of damage, loss, or change of personal data.

New Passport Exchange Rules

Experts have decided to shorten the processing and exchange times for passports from 10 to 7 working days. New rules for entering the EU are also being introduced, including the automated Entry/Exit System and the mandatory electronic ETIAS permit for Ukrainians. Citizens can obtain a passport abroad, subject to certain conditions, especially men aged 18 to 60.

Importance of Updating Passports

Updating passports is an important procedure that must be performed on time to avoid administrative fines. Adhering to the requirements for updating photos and replacing passports ensures the effective functioning of the citizen identification system and enhances their safety during travel. One should always remember the need to keep documents updated in accordance with the legislation.

Now that new rules have emerged, citizens have more opportunities for timely document updates. This is important not only to avoid fines but also for safety during trips abroad. Timely passport replacement and photo updates will help maintain order in the document workflow and simplify procedures when entering other countries.
