Military Medical Commission Becomes Compulsory

According to Novyny.live: On June 11, 2023, the Zhytomyr Regional Military Recruitment and Social Support Center announced that certain groups of citizens are now required to undergo evaluation by a Military Medical Commission (MMC). This procedure determines fitness for military service and applies to all conscripts referred by recruitment centers during martial law.

Categories of Citizens Required to Undergo MMC

Under current legislation, the following groups must complete the MMC process:

  • Individuals previously classified as 'limited fit for wartime service' must be re-evaluated following legal changes taking effect in 2024.
  • Citizens voluntarily enlisting for contract military service are also subject to examination.
  • Service members requiring reassessment of their health status must undergo MMC.

Special attention is given to women who completed their education after 2025. They must register for military service and undergo MMC within 60 days. The evaluation typically lasts no more than six days but may extend to two weeks if additional tests are required. The MMC process is a critical step in determining citizens' readiness for military duty amid current challenges.

The introduction of mandatory MMC underscores the importance of medical fitness assessments under martial law in Ukraine. This policy reflects legislative changes aimed at ensuring the preparedness and effectiveness of the armed forces. As future challenges loom, it is essential for all eligible individuals to complete these procedures to confirm their suitability for service, which could impact overall mobilization and the nation's ability to defend its interests.
