Drivers have been warned: sums and rules will change from January 1st.
Changes in Car Insurance Rules in Ukraine
From January 1st, Ukrainian drivers will be able to take advantage of new car insurance rules. The main innovation lies in the introduction of the principle of direct damage settlement. According to the new law, the injured driver will receive compensation directly from their insurance company, which will simplify and accelerate the process of receiving payments. Moreover, the maximum compensation amounts will increase.
One of the main innovations is the abolition of the depreciation coefficient when calculating insurance payments. This means that insurance companies will be required to restore the vehicle to the condition it was in before the accident. Clear rules regarding the use of spare parts will also be introduced, depending on the age of the vehicle.
The changes in the compulsory car insurance system aim to improve the protection of drivers and speed up the payment process. This is another step towards harmonizing Ukrainian legislation with European standards.
