Nearly 1,900 Russian Tanks Destroyed by SBU Alpha Unit: Zelenskyy Reveals Enemy Losses.
Marking the 32nd Anniversary of the Alpha Special Operations Center
According to Novyny.live: On the 32nd anniversary of the founding of the Security Service of Ukraine's Alpha Special Operations Center, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Yevhenii Khmara disclosed key statistics on Russian military losses, highlighting the unit's devastating impact on occupying forces. Since its inception, Alpha has demonstrated exceptional effectiveness against the aggressor, carrying out highly complex missions to push Russian troops out of Ukrainian territory.
Russian Military Losses by the Numbers
Alpha operators have eliminated 1,896 Russian tanks and 3,952 artillery systems, underscoring their strategic importance on the battlefield. Additionally, the enemy has lost 649 air defense systems and 344 multiple launch rocket systems. Estimates indicate that up to 20% of all Russian infantry casualties are attributable to Alpha fighters. In early June 2023, Alpha was ranked first among the most effective units in Ukraine's Defense Forces, confirming its critical role in national security.
Key cities where Alpha halted the occupiers include:
- Sloviansk
- Kramatorsk
- Mariupol
President Zelenskyy noted that 'thanks to Alpha's long-range operations, the enemy feels the consequences of its own aggression far from the front line, deep inside Russian rear areas.' These words emphasize the unit's importance within Ukraine's broader defense strategy.
Yevhenii Khmara stated: 'Every such target, every hit, every special operation is your contribution to bringing a just peace closer for Ukraine.'
The data released on Alpha's anniversary highlights not only the unit's achievements but also the overall situation on the front. The high effectiveness of Alpha's operations underscores the importance of special forces in modern warfare and their role in strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities. As the president noted, such successes contribute not only to direct combat against the aggressor but also to creating conditions for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. This situation will remain central to Ukraine's future national security strategy.
