Rooney and Ronaldo could have a boxing match: Wilder's ex-coach on the fight.
Boxing featuring Rooney and Ronaldo?
According to The Sun: Wayne Rooney has received an offer to fight in the ring against Cristiano Ronaldo. The idea was voiced by Malik Scott, former trainer of heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, who considers such a competition a 'global event.'
GettyScott, 44, shared his thoughts with CanadaCasino:
'Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Wayne Rooney would bring more eyes to boxing, and I’m all for it.''Any time boxing gets more attention, it’s a good thing. I want people to enjoy the spectacle, not just critique it.

'Just enjoy the carnival. It would be a global event because these are high-level names that would draw huge numbers.'
Scott, who has been married to popular CBS host Kate Abdo since last September, also emphasized that Rooney and Ronaldo have a shared history, having played over 200 matches together at Manchester United. However, their relationship became strained after an incident at the 2006 World Cup when Ronaldo caused Rooney's dismissal due to a conflict with the referee.
Although Rooney has denied rumors of animosity between them, he recently stated in Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast:
'People think I hate him (Ronaldo). I love him. I think he’s an absolute genius and what he’s doing is incredible.'
'I love Cristiano and playing with him. I don’t think people realize actually how close me and him were.'
While a fight between them doesn't seem realistic, Rooney has also received offers from other athletes, including former Leeds United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, who is ready to meet Rooney in a charity event taking place next month.
