But one away trip he is glad not to have been on the pitch for happened in Sunderland when Rooney was suspended.
The team returned with a horrible story. Rooney recounted that there were serious problems with toilets on the upper floor, leading to a sewage leak that soaked the players and their belongings.
Rooney said on The Wayne Rooney Show: “There is one story from Sunderland, I was actually banned. So I wasn't there, but above the dressing rooms was a toilet, and water was leaking down, soaking the players and their clothes.
Our players, United players. I wasn’t there, I was banned, so I was laughing at it.”
“But yes, I think there was a lot of stuff that should not be in the toilets, on the players and their clothes.”
Today, Manchester United and Sunderland will meet in an important Premier League match at Old Trafford.
This incident not only highlights the challenges players face during away matches but also demonstrates how unpredictable situations can arise even in the most professional teams. Thus, Rooney’s similar memories allow viewers to better understand the dynamics of a footballer's life off the pitch.
