Wayne Rooney's Harsh Criticism of Ruben Amorim

According to The Sun: Wayne Rooney expressed sharp criticism of Ruben Amorim, the Manchester United coach, stating that he does not believe in his ability to improve the situation in the team.

After losing to Brentford 3-1 last week, the team found itself in 14th place in the standings.

Pressure on the Portuguese coach is rising as Jim Ratcliffe has drawn up a list of potential candidates for his position, including three current Premier League managers.

In his podcast 'The Wayne Rooney Show,' Rooney added even more criticism:

“It’s just not good enough for either the coach or the players, and I don’t understand what’s going on.”
“[Amorim] is still a young coach, I’m sure he has a bright future, but what is happening at Man United right now... it’s not Manchester United.”
“I hope he can turn things around, but after everything I've seen, honestly, I have no confidence in that.”

A poor start to the season is a consequence of an unsuccessful previous year, as Amorim took over as coach in November, replacing Erik ten Hag.

The team finished the season in 15th place and suffered defeat in the Europa League final against Tottenham, managed by Ange Postecoglou, in Bilbao.

The club's management has backed Amorim, spending over £200 million to strengthen the team, including signing Premier League stars Bryan Mbeumo, Mateusz Kuni, and Slovenian Benjamin Sesko.

Nevertheless, the results remain unsatisfactory, highlighted by a humiliating Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town in League Two last month.

Rooney also noted:

“I do not recognize this football club. I don’t see the players fighting, I see no character, I see no desire to win, I see no abilities, I see no players who can decide the outcomes of matches.”
“Nothing evokes emotions in me. I go to the matches expecting a loss or a draw. This is not Manchester United.”
“This is not just a question for the coach; I see players who do not deserve to wear this shirt, and it hurts because I spent so long at the club and care about it.”
“I believe we need to send a clear message to the owners about where this club is heading because right now we are all waiting for it to start falling apart.”

Next weekend, Manchester United will host Sunderland, who are performing well this season, and after the international break, there will be an away match against league leaders Liverpool.

The situation at Manchester United currently appears difficult, but fans and management are hopeful for improvement. The upcoming matches could be crucial for Amorim, as results demonstrate a critical need for changes in playing approaches and team motivation.
