Renunciation of American Citizenship
According to The Sun: The Prime Minister of Greenland told Donald Trump that 'we do not want to be Americans', reacting to the U.S. President's remarks about a possible 'easy or hard path' to acquiring the island.
Statement from Greenland's Leadership
In a joint statement with leading politicians of Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen emphasized:
'We do not want to be Americans, we do not want to be Danes...'
These words demonstrate Greenland's determination to maintain its autonomy and identity, despite possible attempts of external influence. Such a position may significantly affect future relations between Greenland and the USA, as well as the political situation in the region as a whole.
