According to The Sun: Senne Lammens could become David de Gea's successor at Manchester United, addressing the club's issues with crosses.

The Red Devils released De Gea after 12 years of service and opted for a more modern goalkeeper, Andre Onana.

Manchester United is now returning to basics, signing a new goalkeeper after two unsuccessful seasons filled with conceded goals.

Lammens, 23, has just become a backup for Altay Bayindir and is seen as a promising keeper for the club's first team.

This story reminds us of De Gea, who joined United at 20 after winning the Europa League with Atletico and became one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Belgian journalist David Van de Broek, who closely tracks Lammens' development at Royal Antwerp, told SunSport that the signing for £18 million is ready for the Premier League.

“If you look at the physical data, Lammens is a significantly bigger goalkeeper than De Gea in his first season.”

“Lammens' reflexes are incredible. In one-on-one situations, he is hard to beat as he usually keeps calm.”

“He saved six out of twelve penalties during his time in Antwerp, so you could say that's his specialty.”

It is important to watch how Lammens copes with the physicality of the Premier League, as he has yet to make an appearance for the Belgium national team.

Van de Broek added: “He feels comfortable with crosses, but the Belgian league doesn't compare with the Premier League, where there are many powerful opponents.”

“It will be interesting to see how he handles that. But he loves to intercept balls and is big and heavy, so he shouldn't be easily pushed around.”

De Gea's issues in 2011 were about the size of opponents at set pieces, and he struggled with controlling his area.

Fourteen years later, these same troubles have affected temporary number one Bayindir, who has already conceded eight goals in five matches at the start of the season.

Altay Bayindir's Issues

Bayindir didn't have much to do in the match against Chelsea but conceded a goal from the only shot on target.

Courtois is another obvious comparison, and Lammens could eventually be a replacement for the 33-year-old goalkeeper of the Belgian national team.

'The Big Question'

United legend Peter Schmeichel noted that Sir Jim Ratcliffe should have signed proven goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

Van de Broek commented on Schmeichel's “big question” about Lammens: “Courtois is the best in the world, and Matz Sels is one of the best in the Premier League.”

“He also missed the recent qualifying matches for the World Cup due to transfer delays.”

However, there are reports that Manchester United is still aiming to sign a new goalkeeper next year.

These events followed United manager Rubena Amorim confirming that he still does not have a true number one.

The discussion of a potential goalkeeper replacement at Manchester United indicates that the club is seeking new ways to restore its position on the football stage. Lammens, if he does indeed sign a contract, could become the new face of the team and meet the challenges of the Premier League, as this is not just another stage of his career, but a chance to prove himself in one of the strongest leagues in the world.
