Japan to Restart World's Largest Nuclear Power Plant 15 Years After Fukushima: Details of the Decision.
Restoration of Nuclear Power Plant Operations in Japan
According to The Sun: Japan is preparing to restart the world's largest nuclear power plant nearly 15 years after the Fukushima disaster. This decision has faced significant opposition from local residents, many of whom witnessed the tragedy of 2011.
Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant, located about 136 miles northwest of Tokyo, plans to resume operations around January 20 of next year. Following the disaster, Japan shut down all its nuclear reactors; however, due to increasing energy demands, it is now considering their revival.
“We are three times more important than ever for over 10 million households to have a stable electricity supply”
The resumption of the nuclear power plant operations is driven by the need to ensure stable energy resources for a country that has experienced a severe energy crisis. This decision could significantly impact Japan's energy policy in the coming years and will be an important test for a society that still remembers the aftermath of the Fukushima disaster.
