The publication also featured 114 images serving as evidence of the violence, showing bruises and contusions on Akira's face, hands, and palms.
A representative of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) confirmed that the organization has begun an internal investigation following a request from the media outlet Sports Illustrated.
The statement reads:
“We take such allegations very seriously and have initiated an internal investigation.”
Reactions to the accusations
Slamovich has been actively working with TNA since 2021. She is a former TNA women’s world champion and has won the tag team championship three times.
The 27-year-old Russian-American professional wrestler has yet to comment on the allegations but pulled out of the Roseland XII event scheduled for October 5 due to public backlash.
Akira, 31, also responded to the allegations on social media, noting that his friend had kept this information secret for several months.
He reflected on his emotions, mentioning that he had experienced several 'suicidal' episodes and was hospitalized due to stress caused by their relationship.
Akira confessed:
“I woke up and saw that people were asking me if everything was okay. I want to vomit, I want to leave this world forever.”
“My girlfriend refrained from publishing evidence because I asked her to, and I would never have said a word…”
Akira also discussed his financial difficulties, his views on gender identity, and the struggles he faced in the relationship.
He concluded:
“I realized that everything I did was not enough, and the achievements didn’t matter, they only served others.”
The situation continues to evolve, and both parties remain under public scrutiny. TNA's investigation will help clarify all circumstances of the case and evaluate all provided evidence and statements. It is essential that justice is served for all involved in this situation.
