Starting from October 1, 2025, the rules for bank cards are changing: what to expect for Ukrainians.
According to inkorr.com: From October 1, 2025, significant changes are being introduced in Ukraine for bank card holders. The National Bank of the country is establishing new rules aimed at increasing transparency and the security of financial transactions.
As reported by 'Khviliya', this was announced on the YouTube channel 7eminar.
Among the main innovations, the requirement for companies that process card payments to provide detailed information about the payment recipient stands out. This means that bank statements will include the full name of the organization that received the funds.
Currently, many clients find it difficult to decipher codes and abbreviations in statements, which complicates the identification of the sender of the transfer. This can lead to misunderstandings and possible abuses.
Key changes:
Displaying the full name of the recipient in bank statements:
- Indicating the name and account number for transfers, regardless of the bank chosen;
- Expanding the list of mandatory data in payment orders to enhance security;
- Mandatory indication of the full name of the acquirer before making an online purchase.
Benefits for customers
The new rules will simplify the process of identifying the payment recipient during online purchases, making it easier to control utility payments and recognize transactions at various establishments.
The changes will be implemented automatically, without the need for clients to alter their settings. Banks and payment systems will independently adapt the new data exchange processes with vendors by the established deadline.
Purpose of the innovations
The primary goal of these changes is not only to increase the convenience of using cards but also to prevent fraud through inaccurate company names and simplify the monitoring of various payments.
Experts believe that these changes will significantly enhance the security of banking operations and strengthen citizens' trust in Ukraine's financial system.
Thus, the new rules for bank card users in Ukraine, which will come into effect on October 1, 2025, are aimed at ensuring transparency and security in financial transactions.
