Revised Timetable for Kharkiv to Lviv Train Takes Effect February 17.
Updated Schedule for Train No. 21/22
According to TSN.ua: Starting February 17, Ukraine's long-distance train No. 21/22, which connects Kharkiv and Lviv, will operate on a revised schedule. The primary change is a new departure time from Kharkiv, now set for 19:26, a significant shift from its previous 14:27 departure. This adjustment is part of broader efforts to maintain vital national rail links. The updated arrival times for several key cities are as follows:
- Vinnytsia — 05:40 (previously 00:54)
- Khmelnytskyi — 07:32 (instead of 02:42)
- Ternopil — 09:14 (instead of 04:35)
Furthermore, connecting services from Izyum will now arrive in Kharkiv at 17:21, and from Slatyne at 18:12. These changes are designed to improve transfer conditions, offering passengers on these routes more convenient travel planning. However, these operational improvements come against a challenging backdrop. Russian strikes have recently damaged railway infrastructure in the Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions, with a locomotive also damaged in Sumy, potentially affecting future rail services in those areas.
Significance of the New Timetable
Consequently, the new schedule for train No. 21/22 represents a crucial step in enhancing Ukraine's railway connectivity, despite the ongoing security challenges. The update aims to improve passenger convenience, particularly given the current pressures facing the country's rail network. This could help increase passenger numbers and bolster the economic situation in the regions served by this route. Nevertheless, the continued attacks on critical infrastructure cast uncertainty over the stability and safety of rail travel in the immediate future.
