Zelensky supports Ukrainian soldiers on the front
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff on August 6, 2024, on the 895th day of the full-scale war. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky reported on the situation at the front directly from the front line.
According to Zelensky, the most intense battles are ongoing in the Pokrovske, Toretsk directions, as well as in the Kharkiv region. The President stressed that Ukrainian defenders are doing everything possible to support the units and destroy the occupiers.
Special attention was paid to the use of drones. "In July, our soldiers used more drones than the occupiers. This should be a sustainable trend at the front – regarding all types of drones available to our units," Zelensky noted.
Issues of drone production and financing were also discussed at the meeting. According to the president, Ukrainian manufacturers have already contracted one million drones for this year, and this number will increase.
Moreover, a decision was made to increase funding for Ukraine's missile program. The Minister of Defense reported on the supply of weapons to Ukrainian brigades and negotiations with partners regarding further support.
At the end of his address, Zelensky mentioned the missile strike on Kharkiv. According to him, rescue operations are still ongoing, 12 people were injured, and one person was killed. The President assured that Ukraine will definitely respond to this terrorist act.
