Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler and People's Deputy Zhan Beleniuk today, August 8, won a bronze medal at the Olympics exhibition. After the competition, he announced the end of his sports career.

Beleniuk took off his shoes and left them in the middle of the ring, which became the official sign of the end of his professional path.

Recall that Zhan Beleniuk became a silver medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics and Ukraine's only gold medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

In addition, Beleniuk became the fifth record holder in the history of Ukrainian Olympic sports, sharing this position with gymnast Lilia Podkopayeva, rower Yuriy Cheban and sailor Ruslana Taran.

Among Olympic achievements, Beleniuk won five medals at world championships (including two gold) and six medals at European championships (including three gold). He also won at the Second European Games in 2019.

Recall that in the fight for the bronze medal in the up to 87 kg category, Zhan Beleniuk defeated Pole Arkadiusz Kulinych. The first point was scored by the Pole, but Beleniuk managed to equalize the score and then perform two point-scoring actions. As a result, the Ukrainian won with a score of 3:1.
