Minimum Pay for Nursing Assistants in Ukraine Sees Increase for 2026.
Ukraine Boosts Wages for Healthcare Workers
According to Novyny.live: In 2026, Ukraine implemented higher minimum pay scales for healthcare staff, including nursing assistants, leading to increased salaries. This was made possible by allocating 258.6 billion hryvnias in funding to the medical sector. From January 1, 2026, salaries for primary and emergency care doctors were raised to 35,000 hryvnias. This wage reform is part of broader efforts to strengthen the national healthcare system.
Revised Pay for Junior Medical Staff
The minimum wage for junior medical staff, a category that includes nursing assistants, is now set at 15,000 hryvnias. After tax deductions, nursing assistants take home approximately 11,500 hryvnias. As of January 2026, the average monthly income for a nursing assistant in Ukraine is 14,000 hryvnias.
These pay adjustments for junior staff could positively impact the quality of medical services, as higher wages may motivate workers to remain in the profession and improve patient care conditions.
Raising salaries for medical workers, including nursing assistants, may help improve staffing levels within Ukrainian healthcare. The increased funding for the medical sector also signals the government's intent to enhance working conditions and attract more specialists to medical institutions. This could reduce the outflow of personnel abroad and contribute to greater stability within the national health system.
