Heavy Fog and Border Queues Cause Hours-Long Delays on Odesa-Reni Highway.
Drivers Stranded for Hours on Odesa-Reni Route Due to Fog and Border Backups
According to Novyny.live: Severe traffic disruptions occurred on the evening of January 25 along the Odesa-Reni highway, primarily caused by dense fog and extensive vehicle queues. The most significant congestion was reported on the approaches to the border with Moldova, where drivers faced wait times stretching for hours. This key route is a vital transport link for trade and travel between southwestern Ukraine and its neighbors.
A major bottleneck formed near the village of Mayaky, with a line of vehicles extending for over a kilometer. Motorists traveling toward this area experienced substantial delays that severely hampered their journeys.
Route Conditions and Official Guidance
Localized traffic delays were also recorded on the M-15 highway in the direction of Orlivka. However, officials noted that there were no queues for exiting Ukraine at the 'Reni — Giurgiulești' checkpoint, which may offer some relief for drivers planning to cross the border. As of today, travel on the highway remains challenging, and drivers are advised to exercise caution and account for potential hold-ups.
The traffic complications on the Odesa-Reni highway, especially near the Moldovan border, are likely to impact the transport of goods and passengers between Ukraine and Moldova. Given the persistent fog and lengthy waits, drivers should plan their trips well in advance. The situation underscores the critical importance of road safety during difficult weather conditions.
