The Ukrainian team received 20 medals at the European Sumo Championship

According to inkorr.com: The under-18 team of Ukraine achieved an impressive 20 medals at the European Sumo Championship, which took place in Tallinn (Estonia), according to information from 'Glavcom'.

  • Gold: Semen Makarov (up to 100 kg); Maria Tit (up to 60 kg); Myroslav Cherkas (up to 55 kg); Victoria Kanchiy (absolute weight category).
  • Silver: Victoria Kanchiy (up to 75 kg); Daniil Gerasimov (over 100 kg); Denis Binykovsky (up to 90 kg); Angelina Onopriychuk (up to 55 kg); Yuriy Papushoy (up to 60 kg); Nikita Zholobko (up to 55 kg); Daniil Gerasimov, Ivan Kyrilyuk, Semen Makarov, Tymofiy Kovalenko (team competition, men).
  • Bronze: Vsevolod Kozyrev (over 100 kg); Valeriya Izhakivska (up to 75 kg); Matviy Brodatskiy (up to 90 kg); Nikita Savchenko (up to 80 kg); Ivan Kyrilyuk (up to 80 kg); Ivan Hekalo (up to 60 kg); Victoria Vasyliyeva (up to 50 kg); Semen Makarov (absolute weight category); Victoria Kanchiy, Maria Tit, Angelina Onopriychuk, Valeriya Izhakivska (team competition, women).

This success allowed Ukraine to take 10th place in the overall medal standings of the European Youth Olympic Festival, with the team winning 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals.

Remarkable achievements at the festivals

This performance became the second best for Ukraine at the festivals since 1993. The largest number of medals was won in 2019 when the team received 25 awards.

Judo stood out particularly, where Ukrainian athletes won six medals, including a bronze in the team competition. They also performed successfully in swimming, athletics, taekwondo, shooting, artistic gymnastics, and table tennis.

Such achievements on international stages demonstrate the high level of training of Ukrainian athletes and their desire for new victories.
