Zelensky Meets Sánchez in Madrid
According to Novyny.live: On March 18, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held talks with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in Madrid. The meeting resulted in the signing of five bilateral documents covering key areas of cooperation between the two nations, including:
- defense collaboration
- economic ties
- infrastructure projects
- humanitarian efforts
Among the signed agreements is a deal on technical and financial cooperation, along with a memorandum between the defense ministries of both countries. A separate memorandum was also concluded in the field of diplomatic education. These accords aim to strengthen the partnership between Ukraine and Spain across multiple levels. This visit underscores Spain’s growing role as a key European ally for Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.

The president also stressed the significance of joint efforts with the Spanish government and businesses to advance the technological capabilities of Ukraine’s defense forces. 'We are working together with the government of Spain and Spanish companies for the real, continued technological development of our defense forces and our countries,' he added.
During his visit, Zelensky met with executives from Sener Aerospace & Defence. Additionally, a meeting was scheduled between the Ukrainian president and King Felipe VI, highlighting the importance of this trip for strengthening bilateral relations between Ukraine and Spain. Zelensky expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sánchez and the Spanish people, saying: 'Thank you, Pedro Sánchez! Thank you, Spain!'
This meeting and the signed agreements represent a significant step in advancing cooperation between Ukraine and Spain, especially given current global challenges. The documents are expected to bolster economic links and enhance Ukraine’s defensive capabilities, a pressing need amid the ongoing war and the demand for international support. A key focus of the visit was also on technological development, which could lead to new job creation and investment opportunities in both countries.
