According to UATV: On July 20, 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a series of meetings with senior military commanders to discuss defensive strategy and coordinate the actions of the Defense Forces. These sessions brought together key leaders from major military units, including:

• Volodymyr Horbatiuk, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
• Mykhailo Drapatyi, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
• Andrii Biletskyi, Commander of the 3rd Army Corps of the Operational Command 'East';
• Ihor Obolenskyi, Commander of the 'Khartia' Corps.

A central topic of discussion was the technological reinforcement of the Defense Forces and the expanded use of unmanned systems. President Zelenskyy stated:

“The technological edge of our Defense and Security Forces, along with the broadest possible deployment of all types of drones, is a key priority.”

He emphasized the need for coordinated efforts across all branches of the Defense Forces to ensure effectiveness in military operations.

During the meeting with Mykhailo Drapatyi, the president expressed gratitude for a productive conversation, noting:

“I am grateful for today’s discussion—we covered a lot with Mykhailo Drapatyi. It is crucial that the experience of all components of Ukraine’s Defense Forces is applied in a coordinated manner.”

Zelenskyy also highlighted the role of senior officers in shaping defense strategy, commenting: “As always, the briefing on the situation at the front was thorough. I value both the overall perspective on Ukraine’s prospects on the battlefield and the strategy for action.”

These meetings followed a July 17 session where Zelenskyy gathered unit commanders. He stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of agreements on equipment and weapons deliveries, stating: “We are discussing the strategy for defending Ukraine and the details of interaction with our partners. We are speeding up the fulfillment of supply commitments.” The July 20 talks thus marked a key step in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and aligning the efforts of all Defense Forces units.
