According to Novyny.live: Speaking on May 26 at the 4th International Summit of Cities and Regions, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy underscored that strengthening air defense is critical to the nation’s security. During the event, he also met with Édouard Philippe, the mayor of the French city of Le Havre, to discuss European integration and defense cooperation. This summit brought together local and regional leaders to address shared security and development challenges.

Ukraine’s Top Priorities

Zelenskyy made clear that air defense is the country’s foremost concern, stating,

“Air defense for Ukraine is priority number one.”
He noted that Ukraine is actively negotiating to bolster its air defense capabilities and secure the delivery of relevant systems.
“Our priority is to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and build our own European anti-ballistic shield,”
the president added.

The discussion with Le Havre’s Mayor Philippe went beyond defense collaboration, covering key aspects of Ukraine’s European integration. This meeting marked an important step in deepening ties between Ukraine and France, while also advancing Ukraine’s broader European aspirations.

Strengthening air defense is a cornerstone of Ukraine’s national security, especially amid ongoing aggression. Cooperation with European partners, particularly France, can help secure the technology and resources needed to enhance defensive capabilities.
